Cufflinks & Tie Clips

The jewelry company from Kyoto, Amita, set the bar high in modern damascene production. Started in 1932, the company's product was aimed at European and American markets. These cufflinks are an excellent and rare example of Amita's early work. Monogrammed with "C.O." the calligraphy reflects the western taste for the revival of the Victorian in the 1930s. They were found sewn to their original presentation card. Virtually new.

The plaque measures .75 x .5 inches and is set in a gilded backing with champfered corners.

These are large, gorgeous cufflinks. Cobalt blue enamel positively radiates over its silver ground. The simple design milled onto the silver surface before the enamel is applied--called guilloche, is pleasing and timeless. Each cufflink measures 1-1/8 inches long x 11/16 inches wide. Both are signed with Modahl's mark and with "Sterling Norway". In excellent condition.

Monorgrammed "W.F.H." these cuff buttons have the classic, streamlined appearance of Edwardian jewelry. Nearly .75 inches wide and .5 inches high. Marked on the reverse "R14K", they are rolled gold, meaning they are covered with a thin layer of gold. They are warm in color and the initials are well-cut and legible.
